SSIS Catalog–Sensitive Parameters in catalog.execution_parameter_values

In today’s session at SQLSatOregon one attendee asked the question about how sensitive parameter information is displayed when querying the catalog.* views.

So – I tried it. I created a test SSIS project with two types of parameters. One parameter marked as sensitive, one as a “normal” parameter.

After the deployment to SSIS Catalog I started an execution specifying an explicit value for both of the parameters.

The execution details after running the package are shown as follows (Query catalog.execution_parameter_values):

So – for parameters marked as sensitive, the explicit value during execution is not displayed and cannot be queried through catalog.execution_parameters_values view.

This fact is also mentioned in the MSDN documentation page (https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff878152.aspx):

Happy SSISDB coding!
