Connectivity Driver Updates (JDBC, PHP and ODBC) for SQL Server 2016

Update 2016-07-27: Microsoft announced updates for two three major connectivity drivers for SQL Server:

Update 2016-07-29: It looks like the ODBC 13.1 driver is not available any more.

Update 2016-08-03: ODBC 13.1 is available (again)!

JDBC Driver 6.0 for SQL Server

At July, 14th 2016 they announced the JDBC Driver 6.0 for SQL Server. Included in this release is feature support for:

  • Always Encrypted
  • Azure Active Directory (AAD)
  • Table-Valued Parameters
  • Parameterized Queries
  • Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs)
  • AlwayOn Availability Groups

ODBC Driver 13.1 for SQL Server

Another fresh release of an updated driver – ODBC 13.1 is available. Aimed for targeting C/C++ based applications, the driver update adds feature support for:

  • Always Encrypted
  • Azure Active Directory (AAD)
  • Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs)
  • AlwaysOn Availability Groups (AG)

    Well as of 7/28/2016 the ODBC 13.1 links are broken. Was the Microsoft announcement premature?

      Thanks for pointing it out – the links are really broken (by 2016-07-29) – I’ll update the post if they come visible again.

        Wolfgang -Thanks for the confirmation. I was really hoping I was wrong. I could really use the ability to reference Azure AD from within ODBC. I hope this gets re-released soon.
